September Birthdays

Jenny turned 15 and Anthony turned 10 this month. Hooray! Our kids are growing up so fast. This past Saturday, Jenny went on her first trip to San Francisco with her friends - minus any adult supervision. That's a big step for any teenager.

Anthony, although still a kid, continues to show maturity beyond his years. He's not a typical 10 year old boy. He loves to be challenged ... his brain is a sponge for knowledge. It's no wonder he learned how to play the guitar in less than a month. Give him a year and he'll the second coming of Joe Satriani.

Yes. The kids are getting older and we're having to learn new things. As parents, we're facing new challenges and situations every day. It's a blessing ... which proves that some blessings are hard work.

Just Doing My Part: Part II

You guessed it! I was officially sworn in today as one of the 12 jurors.

Obviously, I can't talk about the case. The only thing I can say is that this thing is projected to last until October 10th. A 3 1/2 week trial should tell you how serious these proceedings are. Our sessions today made it all the more real as we already listened to a couple of witnesses & saw a few pieces of evidence. This is as close I've ever been to a real life version of Law & Order.

It's kinda exciting ...

Just Doing My Part

I've been doing jury duty for almost 2 days now. I innocently went in thinking that jury duty would only take a couple of hours. Yikes! On Monday, I will be reporting in for my 3rd day. The attorneys are still in the process of interviewing jurors - there still about 25 of us that they haven't talked to yet. I'm thinking that Monday will be another long, long day. In some ways, I feel ok about performing my civic duty. Plus, it's a good way to be away from work for a while. Yeah, it's a nice break from the weekly routine.

Anyway, I can't really talk about the case in detail but it's pretty interesting (and serious). I'm sure I'll have stories to tell after I'm done with my duty. Stay tuned ...
