The Devil: Voted Most Popular

Lately, Satan’s name is being brought up a lot in the political arena. It’s no secret that he thrives in politics what with all the corruption, selfishness, pride, greed, and dirty money involved in this business. However, it seems like he’s becoming really popular lately. See for yourself:

Hugo vs. El Diablo
Isn’t it amazing that the only time Democrats and Republicans unite is when
some dictator starts referring to the president as “the devil”? I got to give psycho-Hugo props, though. This guy, at least, had the balls to do it in George’s home turf and in front of the U.N. delegates. The man has BALLS! That’s like talking trash to the Godfather during the Corleone family’s Thanksgiving dinner.

Anyway, we really don’t need to look very far as to why the world is in disarray. We have far too many world leaders that are borderline insane and clueless. Put a camera in front of them and they start acting and sounding like street gang members. Hey, I don’t like the president either, but I can’t compare the guy to the devil … Dick Cheney, maybe.

For more on the subject, read: Mark Morford’s column

Falwell vs. Hillary a.k.a. She-Devil
And once again, another so-called Christian leader has taken sides in the world of politics. Nothing irritates me more than idiot-reverends using their stature and religious clout to endorse political candidates, or worst,
trashing the credibility of an opposing candidate. Yeah, Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton, you’re guilty too.

As I’ve said before, pastors, reverends, priests, etc. have no business in taking sides in the political arena. Your job is not to create more chaos and division between people. Your job is to unite! Don’t use your ministry as a campaign tool, because you know well enough that most of these politicians don’t care about Christian values in the first place. They only care about it when it’s convenient. It’s bad enough that you’ve aligned yourself with a political party, but to sink so low as to use a smear campaign against the opposing party’s candidate is just absolutely unforgivable.

It's All About Birthdays

First off, HAPPY BIRTHDAY JENNY & ANTHONY!
Dee organized a great weekend for them with parties at school, a fun-filled morning at a local art place, and finally, an afternoon get-together with the family. It was a busy but fun weekend.

ALERT! ALERT!
After much deliberation and suggestions from people involved in the costume party planning commitee, we've decided on a theme for this year's bash!

Annual Costume-Birthday Extravaganza
In all likelihood, we will be celebrating our 3rd Annual Birthday Bash on Sunday, October 29th. Dee and I are still ironing out the details. In the meantime, I really need some suggestions for a theme. So far, only Chuck & Tim have given theirs – The 70’s, World of Warcraft, or Farm Animals. We’re open to any ideas you all may have. I really like a Hollywood theme but Dee said that there a lot of similarities to that with what we did last year. Give me your input.

This is Your Band on Drugs
Apparently, the front man for the band Keane is in rehab for drug problems. Whoever said that drugs destroy all creativity has obviously never heard of the band’s new album. I’m not condoning drug use at all. As a matter of fact, this goes to show how drugs ruin your life. Keane was supposed to go on a worldwide tour this fall, but because their idiot-singer is recovering, they’ve cancelled a majority of their shows. What a way to throw out a good thing, eh? Include Tom Chaplin as a candidate for your biggest losers of the year award.

What’s the Big Deal?
Here are a few things that have been irritating me over the past few weeks. I tell ya’ … people make big deals out of the silliest things:

- Katie Couric on CBS: She reads off of a teleprompter each night, and she’s special because ….?

- Whitney Houston & Bobby Brown Split: Come on, people ... like you didn’t see this coming.

- The Papa Pisses Off Islamists: This is not the first time a religious leader has carelessly spewed off something he shouldn’t have … right, Pat Robertson?

- "Survivor" Segregates: And the Olympics are set up how?

- Celebrity Babies: Enough already! I don’t care. Nobody cares! Stop trying to make us care!

Quick Bits

Party Poll
Dee and I need your opinion on something. How many of you would be interested in coming to our annual costume birthday parties the day after Phoebe’s wedding, 10/29/06? It will be in the early afternoon, around 3pm. Please post a comment if this is something you might be open to. Also, give us some ideas for a theme.

Remnants from Last Week

‘Cut’ It Out
Because of my dear cousin, Oliver, Dee and I are now proud owners of a Cutco Kitchen Knife Set. His presentation was so impressive that we were prompted to invest $600 on some brand new knives for our kitchen. It’s amazing how he approached us with, “let me just do a presentation for you and you don’t have to BUY anything.” Little did we know that he was just saying that do get in to our home so he could use his new selling skills on us. AND IT WORKED! Good job, Oliver. You had me at “let’s cut this penny”.

Battle Wounds: Juicy & Fruity
I have 3 major bruises from our day at the paintball field. I have a lemon on my right arm, a nice juicy red strawberry on my back, and a small purple onion on my left butt cheek. Delish’! Here are the photos of my battle wounds. I left out the one on my booty since the world doesn’t really need to see that. If you’re curious, I’ll show it to you privately. (wink wink)
Just to let you know, they haven’t fully healed yet. My modeling career has been put on hold for now.

Davey’s Day
After Saturday’s festivities, it got me thinking about my own bachelor’s party next year. I told the guys that I just want something small & simple – wine tasting, perhaps? However, Mac said that it was too girly and not manly enough. And, he does have a good point. Anyway, I’m open to anything. A road trip, a few days in Vegas, a night of karaoke, or even going to a sporting event would be fun! Either way, anything that involves my brothers and cousins will be a blast. We have a way of making everything a memorable experience.

His & Her Parties

Both Daniel & Lisa had their Bachelor & Bachelorette's activity day this past Saturday. While the ladies spent their day in San Francisco for tea and pampering, the boys were out in Vacaville for a day of paintball.

PAIN'ball
Most of the guys, including me, have never experienced paintball before. I was a bit apprehensive at first at the idea of going out in the field knowing that I would get shot by marble-sized plastic balls. It only took one round for most of us to realize how FREAKIN' FUN this was. The first shot that hit me landed on the back of my right arm. It stung big time! The player that shot me was one of the pro's who was using an advanced high-speed shooter. Yeah, my first hit was the worst. And, it looks bad too. I have a bruise the size of a lemon, and for some reason, it keeps getting bigger. The one on my back looks nasty too - thanks, Oliver. Despite the injuries, and the group had a lot of them, it was a pretty amazing experience - a great rush! Paintball is undeniably a sport made for men who don't mind a little pain. Since the Malabuyo crew takes pride in being goofballs, none of us really took this experience seriously ... with us, it's all about FUN! However, there were a few times when the rounds became challenging & competitive. I'm pretty impressed with some of the guys and their military tactics, A.J. especially. Who knew that playing Rainbow Six will come in handy, eh?

What a 'Hoot'!
After a day out in the sun, we headed home to rest, clean up, and get ready for dinner. In the evening, we took Daniel out to one of the most sophisticated and classiest restaurants in the East Bay - Hooter's. What Daniel didn't know was that Lisa and her bridal party were meeting us at the restaurant as well. Dee set the surprise up very well. The look on Lisa's face said it all. Anyway, dinner consisted of drinks and ofcourse chicken wings - 150 CHICKEN WINGS. The crew had no problem finishing it too - I'm sooo proud! After we stuffed ourselves silly, Daniel and Lisa opened up their gifts ... and they were very interesting gifts I may add. Good choices, Dee, Mac, & A.J.

Thanks, Everyone!
All in all, it was a perfect day to celebrate Daniel & Lisa's last month of being single. It's really great to see that the family has stayed close after all these years. It wouldn't be a celebration unless we were all together for an event like this. Good job to everyone who had a part in organizing the activities! To those who came out and contributed, thank you for being there to celebrate our soon-to-be newly weds. One more month guys ...

Tidbits

Crikey!
I’m still a bit saddened by the sudden departure of Steve Irwin. As much as we loved to make fun of the guy and laugh at him while watching his TV shows, we still respected him for his knowledge and passion for animals and nature. I have never seen anybody so utterly foolish and fearless at the same time that it makes you wonder whether the guy should be revered or be looked upon as a reckless idiot. Nevertheless, he brought comedy and a much-needed spark back in the world of nature and science. There was nobody like him on TV … and sadly, there will never be another Steve Irwin. Maybe that’s why I see his passing as such a huge loss. It’s just like when we lost Bob Ross or Jim Henson – true originals who will never be cloned or duplicated ever again.

"Nobody Puts Baby in the Corner"
If you know this line, then you're either a woman, or you're involved with someone who's actually a Dirty Dancing fan.
I don't get it! Why is this movie so appealing to women? Swayze isn't all that good-looking. As a matter of fact, a dancing man in tight shirts and groin-grabbing pants looks kinda gay in my opinion. (my apologies to the gay community)
I have never seen the whole movie - only bits and pieces. But from what I've seen, it's a pretty lame story of a rich girl falling in love with a poorly-financed, gyrating bad seed .
The music isn't all that great either. As a matter of fact, the songs played in the movie are absolutely laughable. "She's Like the Wind" and "Time of My Life"? Pleeeaze!
But despite all these, it's still one of the most beloved movies of all-time. Turn on your TV and I guarantee you that it's on somewhere. The soundtrack is also inescapable - after all, it's "light rock" so it will always manage to get on the airwaves.
Dirty Dancing is like the flu - it comes and goes, but it's ALWAYS somewhere!

YouTube: A Video Junkyard
I actually surfed YouTube.com this past weekend. It’s the first time I really tried to look up videos on the site. After 5 minutes of watching music videos, TV & movie clips, etc., I was hooked! Since MTV never plays music videos anymore, this site has become a great viewing source for these sorts of things. Plus, there are some folks out there who are really skilled at editing movie clips such as this scene from Star Wars – hilarious! Anyway, in reality, YouTube is really nothing more than a junkyard for videos that you won’t be able to find on cable TV or your local Blockbuster store. Don’t believe me? Where else can you find this classic Spandau Ballet clip? That’s what I thought.

Inhuman Rampage

If you don't know Dragonforce, then you're missing out on one of music's biggest guilty pleasures. Here's a little taste of "Through the Fire and Flames". Oh, the humanity!
