Odd Little Vanessa

As expected, Vanessa Carlton delivered the goods last night. She was amazing. You just have to give her tons of props for entertaining a large group of people with just her voice and a grand piano. It was nice hearing her songs without a band. As a matter of fact, I actually enjoyed the pure sound better. The format of the show was like an episode of VH1's Storytellers - she explained the meaning and the characters behind every song she wrote and performed. She's definitely a talented performer but she's also somewhat odd. She revealed that she has an obsession with vampires and sharks. What's that about? And some of her songs had really serious tones and dark themes behind them; one of them was about one of Darwin's theories - strange.
In any event, it was a very memorable show - $16 well spent.
