Tidbits

Tonight I’ll be enjoying the lovely confines of the Great American Music Hall while listening to a live performance of one my favorite young artists – Vanessa Carlton. When Dee and I found out that she will be performing in San Francisco, we just knew we had to go see her. It should be a fun and delightful evening.

I saw 3 movies over the weekend. Surprisingly, Bridget Jones’ Diary: Edge of Reason was the best one of the three:

The Grudge
The hype didn’t live up to the expectation. Yeah, there were some scary moments but there was no ultimate payoff unlike The Ring. I thought the story was ok, but haunted houses and evil spirits that go on murderous rampages have been done before. Kudos to the Japanese though – they sure know how to make great horror flicks.
Grade: C

Stepford Wives (Rental)
Had some funny moments but it was weak overall. Although, it did have an interesting plot … sort of an "anti-male" theme. Heck, we had it coming, guys.
Grade: C-

Bridget Jones’ Diary: Edge of Reason
Not as good as the first movie but it has "spunk", just like the original. Bridget Jones is a great character because she’s the underdog, she’s insecure, and she’s a regular person. Some of the material in the film seems all too unrealistic but I enjoyed it as a whole anyway. Also, I just wished that Hugh Grant had more scenes in the movie – he was hilarious!
Grade: B+

The Warriors won last night against the Bulls. They’re now 2 – 7. I’m keeping the faith.

I’m not a big fan of reality shows, but I’ve now become hooked to The Apprentice. Unlike other reality shows out there, this one actually has smart, professional people in it. Even though I spend a good hour every week watching this show, I still can’t stand Donald Trump.

Peace.
