Dear Mr. President
Now that 51% of Americans across the country decided that you deserve a second term, please take this time to start out fresh and fix the problems you started from the past four years. Here are a few suggestions:
1) Come clean and give us the REAL reason why we are in Iraq. We know it wasn’t because of WMD’s. We know it wasn’t because of Al Queda. I believe it’s time for you to be truthful to us sir. After all, it’s my money you’re spending. I deserve an explanation.
2) Apologize to the families of our fallen soldiers. You made a mistake in sending them over to Iraq. Be a man and say that you’re sorry. Don’t blame faulty intelligence for the mishaps. You’re the Commander in Chief – everything is your fault.
3) Get our troops more help. They have carried Iraq on their backs far too long. Humble yourself and ask help from other countries. Your arrogance will get more of our soldiers killed. It’s time to send them home.
4) Finish what you started. Find Osama, the real culprit of September 11th.
5) Americans deserve affordable healthcare. Stop catering to HMO’s and billion-dollar pharmaceutical companies and start looking after our well-being. May I remind you, we pay your salary. You’re supposed to be working for us.
6) Roll back the tax cuts you gave to the rich. Do you seriously think that these millionaires would invest that extra money so they can provide jobs for the needy? Tiger Woods, for example; why does he need a tax cut? He’s not going to help the needy with his tax cut. He will only buy more golf balls, golf clubs, and maybe build another mansion for himself. Donald Trump; why does he need a tax cut? He will only buy more hair products and make-up so he can look halfway decent in the "Apprentice". Do you see why this doesn’t work? Tax these suckers so we can fund our schools, fund the war, fund our homeland security, fund our healthcare, etc … I pay my fair share of taxes – they should too.
7) Apparently, you have now become the face of morality in our country. Live up to it Mr. President. Instead of using our tax dollars to destroy other countries, use it to rebuild America and use it to aid third-world countries. Africa, for example, has a severe AIDS epidemic. Work with the United Nations to feed and clothe the poor countries around the world. Reach out to the Islam and Arab nations. There are so many things that you can use my tax dollars for. You want to liberate people? Start with compassion and not with the barrel of a gun.
8) Tell your Vice President to stop scaring the public. You don’t need to use fear to govern. People will follow a good leader because they trust his judgement.
9) 48% of Americans still think you’re a bad leader. You have now been given a second chance to prove us wrong. What kind of legacy do you want to leave behind? Do you want to be remembered as a "war president"? I sure hope not. Do you want to be remembered as a president who cared too much for your rich buddies and forgot about us ordinary citizens? Do you want to be remembered as a "divider"? A path you are currently on. It’s time Mr. President … It’s time for you to reunite this country. It’s time for you to step out of your "cowboy" mentality … you’re not in Texas anymore sir.
10) And on a personal note, a few of my co-workers were laid-off yesterday. They deserve better. Fix the economy Mr. President. The Hearst Corporation is one of the largest and richest companies in the country – and at this rate, they can’t even afford to keep their workforce because of the weak economy. These employees have families Mr. President. You’ve let them down. Reverse this trend now!
Love Always,

ps. i also need a better job and i want to be independent. mr. president, you can start with me.
I'm feeling combative today. I'll bite:
1) REAL reason? Is there some sort of conspiracy here? Heh. Actually, I think the "real" reason, or at least the long term reason is to spread/force our democracy in that part of the world. After all, what good has come out of the middle east throughout history? Wars, wars, wars. You could say oil, but it was westerners who found it, drilled it, and are making the middle eastern oil guys very wealthy. Wait, so what do you think the REAL reason is?
2) Remember now that it wasn't just Bush and the U.S. intelligence that thought there were WMDs--the whole world did. The U.N. had resolutions calling for Iraq's disarnment. Before 9/11 we were complacent to let Iraq keep defying these resolutions, but afterwards, Bush believed that these needed to be enforced, since the U.N. wasn't doing it. So instead of waiting for them to attack us, Bush attacked them. Right? Wrong? Debate it all day. Bush was doing what he thought was best to protect us from future attacks. You know that if he didn't begin this war and another attack happened by terrorist funded/helped/had a connection to/whatever Iraq, people would be criticizing him for NOT going over there...
3) Agree. Get more countries to help in combat. And get them to send more than 53 troops each.
4) Agree. Hate Osama.
5) no idea...I do know that HMO plans suck (that's what I have), and they redid Chesney's plan so she has to pay a little bit now.
6) I'm not sure what to think on this one. I hear the anti-Bush side, and I hear what the Bush guys are saying, and they're completely different stories! What the??? The truth is probably somewhere in the middle with some rich guys doign what you're saying, and some actually using it the way Bush guys are saying.
7) No country has put more tax dollars into humanitarian causes than the U.S. It can be argued that what we're doign in Iraq is humanitarian.
8) Cheney (not Chesney) is scary-looking. All he needs to do is look at you and you're scared.
9) Just because someone didn't vote for Bush automatically means the reason was because that person thinks Bush is a bad leader? I didn't think Kerry would be a bad leader, but I did think that Bush would be a better one.
10) Sorry about the lay-offs, Dave. Even though the economy is slowly recovering, for some reason, the recession is worse here in California, particularly Silicon Valley. It takes a while for the recovery to reach this end of the country... The unemployment is at, what 5.7% or something? I'm no economist, but just searching google and looking at CA's unemployment rates over the years, and that's lower than the average unemployment rates of the 90's, 80's, and I assume the troubled 70's (the data didnt' go back that far). I know that doesn't help your laid-off co-workers at all, but those are the statistics.
But having said all that, I don't believe presidents have that much control over economy's.
I'm no Bush hater, but I truthfully tend to agree more with Republican angles than Democrat ones. I assume you're the opposite. Nothing personal Dave! ...Liberal San Franciscan. Just kidding...
Mac's comments to Dave's and Tim's #1, 2, 6 & 10:
1) At first I gave Bush the benifit of the doubt on this. And I still don't think it was about oil (with all the money spent, you could just buy a whole freakin' load of oil). But with the information out that the attacks on Iraq were planned from the very first meeting of the Bush cabinet, the whole WMD thing just seems like a convenient excuse to attack. On one level, I believe Bush did believe he was protecting America. On another level though... well, personal vendetta? And like I said in my blog, I don't think all other options were considered. Remember, even though Saddam had kicked the UN inspectors out years ago, they were now back in the country and wanted more time to search for WMDs. The U.S. didn't give it to them. Someone suggested that the U.S. work with International Criminal Court to indict Saddam for crimes against humanity -- this would've provided a *legal* basis for kidnapping him and bringing him to trial. Such a method was used in Serbia against Slobodan Milosevic. Sure, that method would've been violent too, but I don't think it would've aliented America as much from the international community.
2) Regarding spreading democracy to the Middle East... All I can say is, the best way to look at a situation is to reverse it on yourself. If someone took over our country, telling us how to live, telling us that their system is better (even if it was), how do you think Americans would react to that?
6) I'm actually for lower taxes, even for the rich (since percentage-wise, they bear a whole lot of the tax burden), but that was when we had billions of dollars of surplus. Now Bush wants to finance a war (two, if we're gonna count Afganistan) AND cut funds. Something has to give(see #10)
10) Yes, technically the economy is getting better. But the thing is, people have to "feel" that it's getting better, and they don't. I think it has something to do with the massive deficit (that just might get bigger if congress raises the debt ceiling). One of my more "Republican" tendencies is lower taxes and fiscal responsibility, but this administration is spending like Michael Jackson.
I’m a liberal? Hmm … I don’t think I am. Heck, I supported the Governator during the recall and was pro-Bush in 2000.
I don’t think the public will ever know the REAL reason we are in Iraq. I don’t buy in to the “spreading democracy” theory. Seriously, how do you implement a democratic government by violence? Here’s an idea: you want to liberate people? Start small. Start with Cuba. Those people have been oppressed for far too long. Thousands of them have tried to flee that country since the Clinton administration. Start spreading democracy there. Oh right, the U.S. have nothing to benefit by helping those folks … oh well.
In time of war, every tax dollar counts. So why does the rich get a tax break? Like I said, I pay my fair share and so should they.
Yes, Americans have funded humanitarian causes, but not this administration. Iraq is by no means a ‘humanitarian’ effort. When people don’t have electricity, clean water, jobs, etc … it’s not very humanitarian. Plus, who’s benefiting over there? American contractors! Here’s an idea: There are plenty of educated Iraqis who need jobs. Let’s give THEM the funds to rebuild their own country. Oh my gosh. That makes sense. Those folks need jobs – let’s give them ALL the money and ALL the jobs. After all, it’s their country. Now that’s HUMANITARIAN. Plus, that would make Americans look good. Thus, every Middle East country would want to work with us.
Ok, not all 48% of the voters thought Bush was a bad leader – they just preferred the other guy.
Yes, the President has a lot to do with the economy. When he decides to go to war, it affects the public, it affects businesses, it affects tourism, it affects travel, it affects consumer spending, it affects every single aspect of the economy. These so-called Threat Levels are of no help either – it only deters people from spending money and traveling – that is if they still have jobs. The President’s decisions always have a direct impact on the economy.
Yes, I was fooled in 2000 by supporting the Bush. Stupid me.
That liberal thing was a joke about you working SF. Heh.
About the spreading of democracy in that part of the world...I forgot to mention that while I think that may be the U.S. government's long-term goal, I myself don't think it will work out. At least, not for a long, long time.
Of course, we did impose a system of government in Japan after WWII, forcing them to get rid of their emperor, essentially their god. Awesome, we got rid of another country's god...
No, we didn't. We just took their god and brought it back to this country where every freakin' god is now worshipped and recognized as God. Freakin' Americans and their all gods are God idea.

I'm not joining the politics conversation, sorry. Politics just ain't my cup of tea. So debate on, my family relatives.
