September: A Month for Birthdays

I met Dee and the kids back in 2000. This month, we celebrated Anthony's (9th) and Jenny's (14th) birthdays. It wasn't so long ago that they were just both little kids. It's amazing how fast they've grown and, in Jenny's case, matured over the years. It's a real blessing for me to have been a part of their lives during these "wonder years". Anthony is almost at that age were he's allowed to go to his friend's house for sleepovers. Jenny is almost at an age were we need to closely monitor any boys who might try to get to know her ... yeah right, "get to know"... pleeeaze! It's a good thing Ern, Dee, me, and a few uncles are there to interrogate any boy who might want to come near her. Okay, I'm exaggerating.

The bottom line is the kids are growing and changing right before our eyes, but it's ok, because we are right here beside them in their journey (and this includes Shelby too). It's fun, but it's scary at the same time. We just need to trust God to help them make the right decisions in life and to be good & compassionate people.

Anyway, I love you, kids! To Jenn & Anth, Happy Birthday!
