Mighty Trojans

Watching the Trojans and Sooners last night was like watching a public flogging in the high school playground. The kids of USC destroyed the over-rated Oklahoma Sooners. Leading up to the Orange Bowl, all the national radio talk shows were spewing Oklahoma bias. The callers were all saying that USC don’t have a chance in winning – that the Sooners were just too good. Well, booya! 55 – 19! What makes this even more satisfying is that they spanked a Southern university. Southerners believe that the whole football world revolves around them (trust me, I’ve met Tennessee Volunteer fans), and to put a smack down on them like USC did last night was absolutely amazing. Last night was an in-your-face middle finger to all those USC & PAC-10 doubters; not to mention the East Coast bias from ESPN and Fox Sports. Who knew that kids from California could actually play football?

On another note, Ashlee Simpson was booed last night during the halftime show. This goes to show that Americans know the difference between good music and bad noise even if most of them are from the South. Seriously Ashlee, what was that all about? Do you think we’re that dumb to buy that performance? Bring me Janet Jackson’s "wardrobe malfunction" any day. Actually, here’s my message to the BCS and NFL: Nobody cares about Halftime Shows! They’re long. They’re boring. And, they’re over-the-top. If you really want some entertainment between halves, show some clips from "Maximum Exposure" … now that’s entertainment.
