Golden State's Golden Boys
13 years of pain, suffering, and frustration ended for us Warriors' fans back in April when the team finally made the playoffs on an improbable run to end the regular season. Thursday night's upset series win was just icing on the cake ... a gigantic, frosted icing! Never in the history of the NBA has an 8 seed beat a #1 in a best of 7. On Thursday, our Warriors made history. It was oh so sweet! It wasn't even close. The W's completely demolished the Mavericks, a Texas team. Yeah, I HATE Texas and all that it represents. So, take that Dallas! Take that George Bush!
Getting back to our home team, it was such pure joy to watch them play the way they did. It was reckless, it was physical, and it was absolutely beautiful. Plus, let's give a ton of credit to the home fans. They came out in full force to support the team. Shark's fans need to take notes on how to cheer for their team. Never have I seen such energy during a pro-sports event ... well, game5 of the 2002 World Series was still unbelievable. I should know. I was there.
Anyway, so the Warriors are off to the 2nd round. Let's keep the magic going, boys! We'll be watching!

I don't know, man. Sharks fans sold out the SJ Arena even when the Sharks were bad. I've seen how faithful you've been, but where were all these folks when the Warriors were 'teh suck'?
Also, since the Warriors were so bad for so long, people are naturally excited for them when they finally win something (same thing happened with my Detroit Tigers last year). But the Sharks have been pretty good for a while. And that leads to higher expectations from the fans. Just like the 49er fans of the 80s.
well, a lot of fans were sitting down the last 1.5 min of game before R. Lang scored agains Nabby. i dont know if i would be sitting down when my team is winning and there's a minute and a half left in the game. but still, go Sharks!!!

Actually, the Warriors attendance record remained strong throughout the bad years. You'll be surprised at how loyal Warrior fans are. Year after year they set attendance records.
As for the fans, Sharks fans are still pretty tame. They used to have the loudest arena in the NHL. Nowadays, the fans are just content watching idly unless a goal is scored. Even Giants fans have more energy than SJ fans. In defense of hockey, though. NHL fans are still the most passionate in sports ... no, NASCAR doesn't count. It's not a sport.
Nah, dude, SOCCER fans are the most hardcore... even if soccer players themselves aren't. Some sociologist could actually write a pretty cool paper about fan excitement in proportion to expectations of winning and geographical location. Conventional wisdom says that fans in the Eastern U.S. (Philly, New York, etc.) will absolutely kill any fans in the West, including the supposedly scary Raiders fans.
Soccer fans are definitely in a league of their own. Those guys are HARDCORE (see the movie, GREEN STREET HOOLIGANS). Anyway, as far as the U.S. is concerned, NHL fans are the most passionate. No other fan base will ever be as loyal to their sport than U.S. hockey fans. Oh, and you know why East Coast fans are nuts? It's because they take EVERYTHING so seriously. We, in the West Coast, are more laid-back. We rather get nuts on more important things like politics, the environment, and movies.

And when a show called, "World's Craziest Riots" or whatever is shown on TV and about 80% of it is riots because of soccer games, you know soccer is the most hardcore, it's awesome.
