Tidbits
Back to School
Jenny, Shelby, & Anthony are all officially back in school this week. It’s amazing how they were all excited to go back on their first day. When we were kids, the first day back to school was a miserable experience. I hated ending my summer vacation! Academics, although it came easy for me, was something I did not look forward to. Plus, we went to a very small private Baptist school … that alone made the experience exponentially agonizing. We did have our friends to look forward to, but since we saw the same kids every single year (even in the summer), it wasn’t as exciting. No new faces, and nothing but the same ol’ teachers and classmates. I am happy for our kids, though. I’m glad that they’re in a good school and that they continue to look forward to learning and meeting new friends.
First Street, Benicia
My how things have changed … Dee & I had dinner with Daniel & Lisa at Randy’s last week and we were pretty surprised by how different the area looks now. We haven’t been there for at least 2 years. They have new stores now and some old ones have disappeared. It’s still one of the best “hang out” places in the Bay Area – a true hidden treasure. It’s quiet, it’s clean, and everybody’s friendly. We’ll definitely make an effort to visit Benicia more often.
You Call That Journalism?
American 24-Hour news networks and all these news magazine shows are such a joke! Ever since Karr confessed to being involved in the JonBenet murder, there’s been nothing else on their agenda besides to follow this psycho around and detail every single move he makes. Does it really matter what the guy ate on the plane or how many times he went to the restroom during the flight?
And now, the news media has been duped AGAIN now that law enforcement officials, in all probability, can find no evidence linking this guy to the crime.
You don’t have to look very far to see what’s wrong with America. What’s on TV each night has a LOT to do with what’s wrong with America. The ever-clueless American media reports on everything besides relevant news. Instead of focusing on more important issues, they want to sensationalize a little girl’s murder that happened so long ago. Plus, they don’t even report on FACTS anymore … it’s all speculation and so-called “expert” opinion. What a joke!
Frodo Joins a Gang and Kicks A**!
I just saw the movie Green Street Hooligans with Elijah Wood – it’s like the English version of Fight Club with a mixture of The Outsiders added in. It’s one of the best adrenaline-packed, testosterone-charged films I’ve ever seen. Whoever said that Europeans are wimps haven’t seen these football “firms” in action. These gangs show what fighting is supposed to be like – none of that “drive-by” bullcrap! This is definitely a movie made for guys who love the taste of their own blood and who use their bare hands to pummel their rivals. Obviously, that’s NOT me, but I freakin’ enjoyed this film anyway.
Dave Recommends:
IN THEATERS: Little Miss Sunshine
DVD: Inside Man
DVD: Capote
DVD: Green Street Hooligans
TV: King of Cars (A&E Network)
