Bagh-dud
As you all know, I am very much opposed to the war in Iraq. However, the President is right when he said that leaving Iraq now is a mistake. The Iraqi people deserve more than that. We created this mess, and WE have to clean it up. I do agree with some of our senators and congressmen that there has to be a detailed exit strategy and a time-table to get our troops home. This war never had any direction from the start and it’s time for Bush and co. to get this straightened out before more soldiers die. Also, just because we want our troops to come home, it doesn’t mean that we are un-American and that we are putting our soldiers’ lives in more danger. That’s just absolutely ridiculous! That’s called, “the neo-con spin”.
It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas
Ah, fist fights, long lines at the malls, people getting trampled while shopping, the rush to buy the latest video game consoles, more shopping, cheesy Christmas cards, escalating credit card bills, Christmas trees on sale, Christmas music on sale, candy, more shopping, etc … How are all these things related to Jesus’ birthday and spending time with our loved-ones? Let’s keep our focus, people.

Note to ESPN and Fox Sports: Poker is NOT as sport. I already have a hard time believing that NASCAR is considered a sport. So please stop insulting my intelligence by putting this crap on TV. You mean to tell me that this is the best you can do to fill in the time slots that was left behind by NHL hockey games? There’s nothing intriguing in watching a bunch of out-of-shape middle-aged gamblers sit around for hours at some cheap Las Vegas casino. And what’s more ridiculous is that there’s actually a crowd watching them and cheering them on. Cheering what? What’s there to cheer for? Sports are about skill and talent, NOT winning by luck of the draw. Cheer on, losers!

On DVD: U2 Vertigo Tour (Live from Chicago)
If you didn’t get a chance to see them live on tour, then phooey on you. You’re in luck, though - this DVD did a pretty good job in capturing the energy of their live show. It still doesn’t do them justice, but it’s close enough.
Music: U2
Album: War
A very under-rated album. Without songs like, “New Year’s Day” and “Sunday Bloody Sunday”, I probably would have never been a fan of U2. Listening to this album again after all these years is pretty refreshing. It’s like watching Spielberg’s old classics - they’re not the best, but they’re timeless.
Out in Theaters: Jarhead
A great look in to the mind and the life of a Marine. We have a saying in the military, “hurry up, and wait”. That’s exactly what this movie is about – a soldier (a warrior) waiting and wishing for something to happen to justify his existence. They have the hunger to fight and kill, but at the same time they fear and respect death. This film also tackled the problems these men have with their wives, girlfriends, and relationships they left behind as they go fight a war overseas. It’s a pretty depressing and disturbing movie. As they say, “Welcome to the suck”!

If you can get a hold of a live version of "Sunday Bloody Sunday," it's way better than the CD version.
