Tidbits

Smashing Pumpkins
I carved a pumpkin for only the 2nd time in my life. It wasn’t so bad this time around. I was grossed out the first time I had to clean out the inside of a pumpkin. It’s wet and gooey! Anyway, we had a little get-together at our place this past Saturday. Daniel, Lisa, and Crystal (Lisa’s friend) stopped by for a couple of hours for some tacos, pumpkin carving, and a *movie. It was fun carving the pumpkins but it’s really tough on your hands. The decorations came out well, though. Daniel’s “wolf” was my personal favorite. My “wicked” pumpkin looked excellent too. I’m proud of myself. Yay!

Dave Recommends:
Roll Bounce (2005):
It was Dee’s turn to pick a movie the week we went to see this film. I had my doubts. After all, a roller skating movie can’t be all that interesting. However, to my surprise, this was more than just a roller skating movie. This was a good and fun family film. It’s also a throwback from the days when disco and polyester ruled the world. This was also a refreshing look at the inner city back in the day before gangs and violence became the norm. But what this movie really is – is just about being young and enjoying the summer with close friends (with a great soundtrack I may add). I hate to say it (or admit it), but this is the most fun I’ve had in a movie all year.

Niners or Raiders
Who’s worse - the Niners with no talent, or the Raiders with better talent but underachieving? Both are a lousy 1-4. Does anybody really care? I’m just glad the NBA season is right around the corner. Go Warriors!

East Bay Hardcore
Weird things are going on over here in the East Bay. What the heck is happening in the suburbs? People are suddenly getting murdered left and right – in Lafayette and Orinda of all places! These events are starting to mirror a bad episode of Desperate Housewives.

Proof that Money Can Buy You Freedom
Regular street drug dealers get years of prison time when they get caught. Victor Conte gets 4 months for illegally supplying steroids to athletes. The justice system is freakin’ whacked!

RSVP
If you’re planning on attending our event on the 29th, please call or email me or Dee before October 22nd. Thanks all!

Yes, the Bay Area is pretty much going down the tubes. Just in today's paper, all of the following things happened in just the last week in Scotts Valley:
* a hit and run suspect was found
* somebody trashed a high school float
* somebody stopped for speeding had a outstanding MISDEMEANOR (they were released with a citation though)
* "A vandal with yellow spray paint caused an estimated amount of $50 worth of damage."

Jeez...if it gets any worse, we're going to have to move...

Jeez! Scotts Valley is just a haven for thugs and trouble-makers ain't it?

Lisa, see you at the party.
