Thoughts on NFL's Week1

To all Niner fans out there, enjoy this moment. Make it last for a while. The team played inspired football yesterday and it paid off. Next week they take on the Eagles at Philadelphia, and looking at the rest of the schedule is pretty depressing. In any event, I already love Mike Nolan and the young 49er crew. As long as they play with heart and effort and keep the games close, they’ll be well supported by the fans. All the way, Tim Rattay! (cheese)

This season, the New Orleans Saints are America’s team. The Cowboys can choke every week for all I care. The same goes with Eli Manning and the New York Giants.

Our other local team, the Raiders, fell victim again to the New England Patriots. Same ol’, same ol’ Raiders, huh? Even with Randy Moss, they still couldn’t score enough points to win. They’re a cursed team I tell you!

The 2005 season started without a familiar face – Jerry Rice. He’s arguably the best football player to ever play the game. It’s unfortunate that he had to leave football in the manner in which he did – as a washed-up veteran. However, that doesn’t diminish his accomplishments and the great performances. Thanks for the memories, Jerry!

Rice should've retired after the Raiders lost the Superbowl. It was pretty much all downhill after that. Go 'Skins!
