THE GOOD
Sin City - Unlike any movie I’ve seen before. This film made all those previous comic book movies look amateurish by comparison. The cinematography and the overall look of this film are extraordinary. The stories of each the characters were very intriguing (for lack of a better word). This is the coolest movie I’ve seen since Pulp Fiction. A little warning though: in my opinion, this should have received an NC-17 rating. Nobody below the age of 18 should ever see this due to its violent content. Grade A+
Eulogy – Hilarious! A great movie about a dysfunctional family coping with the death of their father / grandfather. Great performances by the whole cast which included Ray Romano and Debra Winger. Definitely for fans of The Royal Tenenbaums & Home for the Holidays. Grade: A+
Hero – All I can say is, "Wow"! It’s too bad I waited this long to watch this film. Grade: A
Finding Neverland – A bit too slow for my taste, but it was a wonderful movie nevertheless. Kate Winslett was perfect as usual, but Johnny Depp really carried the load. Grade: B+
Spanglish – A true melting pot (or salad bowl) of a movie. There were too many things going on – too many individual stories to follow. But, the characters were all lovable, especially the grandma. This is not a great family movie per say, since it’s about a dysfunctional family. It’s more of a movie about people and their moments of kindness towards each other. Nothing gets resolved in the film, which is like real life. Problems go on, but there’s always hope for more love and tenderness as each moment pass. Grade: B+
Mr. 3000 – A surprisingly good baseball movie. My only complaint – the love story subplot was unreal and completely full of cliches and cheesy dialogue. Grade B+
Hitch – A cute movie about below average men and their pursuit of the women they love. Bachelors, take note. Grade: B+ (Could have gotten an "A" if there were robots chasing after Will Smith)
Guess Who - What do you get when you combine Father of the Bride, Meet the Parents, and Bernie Mac? You get this - a pretty entertaining and over-the-top story about black & white people and inter-racial dating. Some of the movie’s material is totally absurd but it fits Bernie Mac very well. Grade: B
THE BAD
Fat Albert – Not necessarily a bad movie. It’s actually a pretty good kids’ movie (ages 6 to 10). But, there wasn’t really a plot to it – it was absolutely pointless. I did like the final scene of the movie with Bill Cosby with the old timers. Grade: B-
The Clearing – A very, very slow movie about a millionaire, his family, and the man who kidnapped him. The performances were great, but the plot just went nowhere. Grade: B-
THE UGLY
Sky Captain & The World of Tomorrow – My exact words after seeing this was, "What the heck was that"? It was like Spy Kids, 1, 2 & 3(D) all rolled in to one big mess. And the whole movie looked so dark … literally. It was shot with a 1940’s look and it was visually awful. The plot was a joke. Paltrow and Law were hilarious (and that’s not a compliment). About the only good thing about this movie is Frankie, Angelina Jolie’s character. Even with an eye patch, she still looked darn sexy. Grade: C
First Daughter – Katie Holmes has one of the prettiest faces in entertainment, but even her pretty face couldn’t save this boring film. I must have gotten half way through the movie before I realized that doing my laundry was probably more entertaining. Movie or laundry; guess which one I chose. Grade: D+ (The "+" is for Katie Holmes’s wholesome smile and for my fresh clean laundry)

Top Secret – In my opinion, the funniest slapstick movie ever made! Grade: A+
Swingers – Probably the best dating movie about men, for men. Grade: A+
Fargo – There’s just something about this film that lures you in from beginning to end. A great American classic. Grade: A+

I liked Sky Captian. It was made to be a fun, light-hearted summer flick, and I think it carried through. I think I just got suckered in by the cheesy robots, so I guess my opinion isn't much.

It's the only movie that truly brings families together.
